Expense Roaster respects your right to control your personal data. This policy explains how to request deletion of your account and data, what gets deleted, what is retained, and why.
You can delete your account in two ways:
Go to Profile → Settings → Delete Account within the app. This is available on all platforms including iOS, Android, and web. Follow the on-screen confirmation steps to complete deletion.
If you cannot access the in-app deletion option contact us at admin@expenseroaster.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and include the email address associated with your account. We will verify your identity before processing the request.
Deleting the App Is Not the Same as Deleting Your Account. Uninstalling the Expense Roaster app from your device does not delete your account or your data. You must use one of the two methods above to permanently delete your account and data.
Upon receiving a verified deletion request:
You will receive a confirmation email when your deletion request is received and a second confirmation when deletion is complete.
The following data may be retained after account deletion for the reasons and periods specified:
Encrypted system backups
Your data may exist in encrypted system backups for up to 90 days after deletion. This data is not actively used or accessible during this period and is automatically purged when backups cycle.
Billing and payment records
Billing metadata including transaction records and subscription history is retained for 7 years as required by the Canada Revenue Agency under the Income Tax Act. This applies only to billing records — not your financial documents, roast content, or spending data.
Fraud prevention records
If your account was flagged for fraudulent activity or abuse we may retain limited identifying information for up to 2 years to prevent re-registration and protect other users.
Legal holds
If your account is subject to a legal investigation or regulatory requirement we may be required to retain relevant data beyond the standard periods above. We will notify you if this applies where permitted by law.
Deleting Expense Roaster from your iPhone or iPad does not cancel your subscription or delete your account. To cancel your iOS subscription go to:
Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → Expense Roaster → Cancel Subscription
Then submit your account deletion request as described in Section 1.
Note: Your subscription cancellation is handled by Apple. Your account data deletion is handled by us — these are two separate processes unless you use the in-app deletion feature which handles both automatically.
Deleting Expense Roaster from your Android device does not cancel your subscription or delete your account. To cancel your Android subscription go to:
Google Play Store → Subscriptions → Expense Roaster → Cancel Subscription
Then submit your account deletion request as described in Section 1.
Note: Your subscription cancellation is handled by Google. Your account data deletion is handled by us — these are two separate processes unless you use the in-app deletion feature which handles both automatically.
You can delete your account and cancel your subscription simultaneously using the in-app deletion feature under Profile → Settings → Delete Account. Alternatively contact us at admin@expenseroaster.com and we will process both the cancellation and deletion together.
Account deletion cannot be undone. Once your data is deleted it cannot be recovered. If you think you may want to use Expense Roaster again in the future consider cancelling your subscription and simply not using the app rather than deleting your account entirely.
